This was an early morning show on September 18th 2009, a first  for me on our new WPKN schedule. We do a tribute to our friend, neighbor, fine musician and woman, Mary Travers who passed on earlier this week. Ken Best, author, journalist and Radio Personality shares memories and stories from Mary's life with me. We follow that with a musical tribute celebrating her fine voice and music produced by Peter Bochan.

New music recieved this week was showcased, ranging from the Batlefield Band, Tom Chapin, Eric Balkey, janet Bates, Tracy Grammer, Bonnie Lee Panda, and selections from Copenhagen Songwriters Festival 09, and special focus on Rod Macdonald"s "After the War" album

I come from a few blocks away in Bridgeport, where I had an interesting night. It seemed like a movie or TV show script, complete with multiple police cars with sirens and lights screaming as they chased a stolen car which was racing down the city streets. Apparently in an effort to make turn the car skidded into the corner in front of my house, hit the curb and went airborne over the lawn and crashing into the house. It is a big turreted Vitorian home with a wrap around porch that the car flew into crashing into the corner of the building. Then of course it remains a tourist site apparently with visitors walking on the lawn and porch taking pictures etc. Needless to say little sleep led up to this show! Hope it makes some sense!  Doug E~~~
