Episode: 05.28.18: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses Trump administration abuse of immigrant children; Prospects for US-North Korea summit meeting; the eruption of violence in Nicaragua & a preview of this year's Left Forum conference in NYC

1) Dr. Irwin Redlener, a professor at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and president emeritus of Children’s Health Fund, is the author of "The Future of Us: What the Dreams of Children Mean for 21st-Century America.” He talks about the Trump administration's policies that subject children to abuse, who come to the U.S. seeking protection and asylum.

2) Tim Shorrock, a Washington-based journalist who spent part of his youth living in South Korea, assesses uncertainty surrounding the scheduled .U.S. -North Korea summit meeting June 12th, after Pyongyang's angry reaction to U.S. military exercises and comments made by Vice President Mike Pence and National Security Advisor John Bolton, that contributed to Trump's short lived cancellation of the summit.

3) "Maria," a Nicaraguan activist talks about the clashes between police and demonstrators in the country that have claimed more than 80 lives since protests erupted in mid April, opposing major changes in the Central American nation's social security system.

4) Samantha Desire, long time organizer and volunteer-elected board member with the Left Forum, discusses the upcoming Left Forum conference, June 1st-3rd, covering the theme of this year's gathering, "Towards a New Strategy for the Left," speakers at the plenary sessions, panel topics -- and how listeners can register and attend.
