Episode: Frisbee in Bridgeport: Interview with John DeRosa and Dan O'Connor

Radio Base Camp is hosted by Steve di Costanzo and is heard on WPKN 89.5 FM, listener-supported, community radio in Bridgeport, CT

Facebook:  Radio Base Camp

Steve welcomes John DeRosa and Dan O'Connor ("The Frisbee Boys of Bridgeport") into the 'Base Camp' to discuss all things FRISBEE.  At the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport, CT there is an exhibit called FIRST IN FLIGHT that focuses on the exploits of Gustav Whitehead; Sikorsky and the FRISBEE.  O'Connor loaned many of the FRISBEE items to the Discovery Museum and he talks about the timeline/history of the game and the Frisbie Pie Company that was located in Bridgeport, CT up until 1958.

DeRosa is a co-founder and co-designer with Adam Goodman of the new Disc Golf Course that features 18 holes through the woods of Veteran's Park.  He talks about his work with the city, the Parks & Recreation Dept. and the pre-openning.

I had a chance to play a few holes and it's a beautiful course and loads of fun.

Thanks John and Dan...and Adam...who could not make it into the studio.

  • a little history....RADIO BASE CAMP is a radio show that I started in 2007 on live365.com internet radio.  It became a weekly WPKN  "overnight" show from Sunday into Monday for two years before moving to Friday afternoons  in September 2009 with my part-time co-host, Eric Cocks.  In early 2010,  I decided to focus on my own programming and me and Eric reconfigured our weekly radio show into two seperate and distinct shows: Radio Base Camp with hosted Steve di Costanzo and Connections ...With Eric Cocks.

Radio Base Camp and radio Base Camp-Late Night is hosted by Steve di Costanzo
