Episode: 05.13.19: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses the debate over impeachment of Pres. Trump; US pushing confrontation with Iran; Local activists make progress on election reform; CT progressives advocate fair & just state budget

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Ron Fein, Legal Director with the group Free Speech For People assesses the current constitutional crisis between the House of Representatives and the Trump administration, the Democrat's fence sitting on impeachment -- and the question: is the U.S. system of checks and balances broken.

2) Dan Kovalik, author of the book, "The Plot to Attack Iran: How the CIA and the Deep State Have Conspired to Vilify Iran," discusses Iranian president Hassan Rouhani's recent announcement that his nation will halt compliance with certain limits under the JCPOA international Iran nuclear deal if the current signatories to the agreement don't uphold commitments on sanctions relief. He'll also consider the Trump administration's new economic sanctions targeting Iran, and military threats that could lead to miscalculations and a deadly conflict between the US and Iran.

3) Professor Joshua A. Douglas of the University of Kentucky College of Law, who teaches and researches election law, civil procedure and constitutional law, talks about his new book titled, "Vote for US: How to Take Back our Elections and Change the Future of Voting."

4) Jamie Mills, Director of Fiscal Policy and Economic Inclusion at Connecticut Voices for Children discusses her group's effort to ensure that the state's wealthiest citizens pay their fair share of taxes to address Connecticut's budget issues. She'll also talk about the Teach-In for a Fair & Moral Budget at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford on Tuesday, May 14th.
