Episode: Spontaneous Connections: New and vintage music

June 5, 2020 episode of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks.  It's spontaneous! It's non linear! New and vintage music, including a new box set from Iggy Pop and David Bowie featuring live performances with Bowie on keyboards and synths. New music from Bob Dylan, Dion with Paul Simon, Phoebe Bridgers, Nick Lowe, Kathleen Edwards, Marshall Chapman, Jenny O., Mandy Moore, The Magnetic Fields and more.

Plus The Beatles, Sam Phillips, several tracks from David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Harry Nilsson covering his friend Randy Newman, Aimee Mann covering Nilsson, Ray Charles, Tom Petty, Susan Cowsill, Alex Chilton, The Bar-Kays, Neil Diamond, The Yardbirds live, Dave Edmunds, Lindsey Buckingham, The Squeaky Chairs, The Doodle Langs, Pi in the Sky and whatever happened in the moment.

The new Iggy Pop box set, The Bowie Years, is quite extraordinary. After collaborating on two brilliant albums in the 1970's, The Idiot and Lust For Life, Bowie went on tour with Iggy, playing synths and singing background vocals in the background. The music is powerful and original, changing night to night. Plus some very good laughs during an interview with Iggy at the time.

Also some thoughts and some music on the current situation in America.

Thanks for tuning in!!
