Episode: Connections... With Eric Cocks/Special Edition with Peppy Castro

A very special edition of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks. Joined by my good friend Peppy Castro, founding member of The Blues Magoos, Barnaby Bye and Balance.

The show starts with a wide variety of music featuring The Kinks, Harry Nilsson, Ian Hunter, Beck, Mono, The Bobby Fuller Four, Tol-Puddle Martyrs, Jackie DeShannon, George Harrison, Symphony In DeMeanor, The Beach Boys, Dr Fiorella Tirenzi and more.

Also a debut of new music from Sam Phillips. Plus an excerpt of a bit from Eddie Izzard...

Then Peppy joins me for an in depth interview, conversation and live performance.

We talk of the early days of The Blues Magoos as pioneers of psychedelic music. Being on tour with The Who. Starring on Broadway in Hair. Founding Barnaby Bye and being signed by Ahmet Ertegun after one performance. Creating the music for Zen Boogie. Founding Balance with Andy Newmark, Doug Katsaros and Willie Weeks. Writing, creating and producing for numerous artists. New music as a solo artist on his Therapy Tour. The Magoos performing at the WPKN benefit. Peppy-oke (you have to hear it to believe it). A new tour with Jay & The Americans. Connections with Richard Ross, John Lennon, Willie Blue, Craig Bishop, Steve Bondy. True tales of Keith Moon, Pete Townshend, Herman's Hermits.

Plenty of laughs and great stories along the way... including some that are deeply moving and revealing, in a way that gets to the core of human emotion and how that can be expressed through music.

The show continues in an extended edition, with an additional live performance by Peppy.

Then moves on to additional music by Bob Dylan, Lindsey Buckingham and Public Image.

Special thanks to Peppy Castro for the openness, humor, generosity of spirit and phenomenal music.

Additional thanks to everyone for the tremendous support through e-mails, phone calls, etc. You know who you are!

The segment with Peppy will also be posted separately in the wpkn archives.

Stay tuned for future episodes of Connections.
