Episode: "The Rage of Achilles," by Terence Hawkins -- Interview and reading
As a respite from a troublesome writing project, New Haven writer Terence Hawkins sat down a few years ago and tried to retell a chapter from the "Illiad." He liked how it turned out, and he ended up rewriting the entire book. One reviewer said the book had been written as "If Hunter S. Thompson and Quentin Tarantino teamed up to write an Aegean Bronze Age war novel.'" Hawkins book is more about the fight between the men on the field outside the walls of Troy than the the battles in the heavens between the quarrelsome Greek Gods.
