Steve will be talking about some recent WPKN news and upcoming events such as : The $7,000 grant from the State of Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund; the billboard on I-95 for the upcoming Music Mash-Record Fair 2019 and a chat with John Bastone from Record Riots who helps WPKN produce this event; ; this weekend’s LIVE remote on WPKN with Mark Naftalin & Friends from the Pequot Library’s Mid-Winter Book Sale in Southport; our celebration of Black History Month with Stax vs. Motown results, individual programmers efforts;
our Music on Film Series this month FINDING FELA about the legendary African musician FELA KUTI; the Black Action Film Festival WPKN is presenting with The Archive/Vinegar Syndrome in Bridgeport, Kevin Gallagher will talk about the environmental film selection coming up in early March.
Guests include Kingsley Osei, founder of Connecticut Against Violence and producers of this months event along with City Hall called A Hip Hop Expression of Black History. We’ll also have Fiona Bradford, Development and Communications Director and Keri Humpries, Outreach Director of NEW HAVEN READS; also Laurie Pasteryak Lamarre, Curator of the Fairfield Museum & History Center about their NEW exhibition ‘MARK YOUR MARK” ; also Sarah Domena Director of Community Outreach and Allison Wysota, Executive Director of Adam’s House a nonprofit in Shelton.
