Host profile: Ken & Marchand
Ken is a graduate of Princeton where he majored in history and of Columbia Law School where he focused on international law. He was a corporate litigator in New York City and later served as an Assistant Attorney General for New York State. Ken, also, served for 8 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, JAG Corps where he was a Captain.
Ken is the host of the public affairs series In Context produced by MDR Productions, Inc. In the monthly In Context War Report, Ken is joined by In Context’s military affairs commentator Marchand MacDermotRoe as they report and analyze important developments in global wars – developments often unreported in the U.S. media.
In 2006, Ken, also, created the series History Counts. In History Counts, Ken and his guests investigate the true facts behind controversial and important historical events including political assassinations and coups d’état.
Over 20 editions of In Context and History Counts have been broadcast nationally by the Pacifica Network in its Sprouts series. Ken and Marchand’s August 2016 national broadcast, A History of Fascism, is available for download.
As In Context’s military affairs commentator, Marchand is featured in the show’s monthly War Report. He specializes in military history, geopolitics, as well as, the current military doctrine of the U.S. and foreign countries.
In the In Context War Report, Marchand joins host Ken MacDermotRoe for a report on important developments in the current global wars – developments often unreported in the U.S. media. They, not only, explain the importance of these developments, but also, place them in their proper historical and geo-political context so that listeners can understand how they may be affected. The War Report is believed to be the only program of its kind on radio.
Marchand had been featured in four national broadcasts of the In Context War Report on the Pacifica Radio Network’s Sprouts series. His August 2016 program, A History of Fascism, is available for download.
In 2013-2014, Marchand was featured in a special series of shows in which he analyzed the military traditions and modern capabilities of the United States, Russia, China and Japan, and considered how each country might perform in future conflicts. In the series, Marchand, also, analyzed the shortcomings of U.S. military policy and offered recommendations on needed reforms.
