Dec 28, 2018 interview of WLIR radio legend Denis McNamara by Chris Frantz the Talking Head. Denis was dj and program director for WLIR and was instrumental in bringing new wave bands to the radio at a time when few stations took chances on the music being created and performed in small clubs in NYC and other areas. Denis is also the producer of the 2018 film about all of this: New Wave, Dare To Be Different, currently available on DVD and on Showtime.
Old friends, Chris and Denis have a very engaging conversation about the origins of new wave, what it meant to get it on the airwaves and what it all means now.
