Episode: 09.26.22: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses major Iranian protests & nuclear talks; Russia's expected annexation of 15% of Ukraine; US corporate criminals escape accountability; Lawsuit filed against Ron DeSantis for exploiting asylum seekers

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 – 9:30 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Ryan Costello, Policy Director with the National Iranian American Council examines widespread protests that have erupted across Iran after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was arrested by the morality police for allegedly violating religious law requiring women to wear headscarfs, as well as ongoing negotiations to revive the Iran nuclear deal.

2) Dr. John P. Willerton, Professor of Political Science at the University of Arizona assesses recent news from the war in Ukraine, including reports that the Ukrainian military has recaptured territory in the north, President Putin's mobilization of 300,000 reserve troops, and assessing how western corporate media is covering the conflict.

3) Russell Mokhiber, editor of the Corporate Crime Reporter, talks about New York State Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit filed against Donald Trump and his children for 'staggering fraud' -- that shines a light on the large number of wealthy individuals and corporations that regularly escape scrutiny, prosecution and accountability for tax fraud and other so called "white collar" crimes.

4) Jake Love, a staff attorney with Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights in Boston discusses his group's recently filed lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the State of Florida for their exploitation of vulnerable asylum seekers as political props by deceiving dozens of immigrants to travel to east coast cities and the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard, and the larger issue of what must be done to repair our nation's broken immigration system.
