Episode: 05.08.23: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses the deepening SCOTUS ethics scandals; Why Republicans are weakening child labor laws; MoveOn targets Fox News advertisers; Rightwing Billionaires finance 2024 third party presidential bid

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 – 9:30 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Lisa Graves, Executive Director of True North Research discusses what can be done about Chief Justice John Roberts' inaction to protect the integrity of the Supreme Court, the corrosive effect of unreported valuable gifts received by Clarence Thomas and other justices, and the role of Leonard Leo and dark money in packing the nation's highest court with extremists.

2) Joshua Cowen, Professor of Education Policy at Michigan State University discusses the growing number of GOP-controlled states that are passing legislation that weakens child labor laws, and the impact these policies will have on children's lives.

3) Rahna Epting, Executive Director of MoveOn,org discusses her group's campaign demanding corporate advertisers stop funding Fox News, that supports the "news" network's dissemination of dangerous lies and conspiracy theories that foment political violence. She'll also talk about MoveOn's planned May 15th rally at the Subway restaurant chain corporate headquarters in Milford, CT.

4) Andrew Perez, Senior Editor and reporter at The Lever covering money and influence, talks about his recent article, "America’s First Dark Money Ballot Line," the latest scheme to launch a centrist, third-party “unity” ticket comes from a dark money front for corporate interests. The corporate front group "No Labels" is actively exploiting a campaign finance loophole to buy themselves direct access to ballots nationwide, in an effort that Democrats warn could swing the 2024 presidential election.
