Episode: 09.07.15: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses organizing around the fight for a $15 minimum wage; the history & future of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; Resignation of Guatemala's president & the campaign to close the Indian Point nuclear plant

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Arun Gupta, co-founder of The Indypendent newspaper, the Occupied Wall Street Journal and widely published journalist, examines the future of the Fight for 15 campaign and similar drives for higher wages at fast food restaurants and big box retailers across the country. He'll be focusing on many of the issues raised in his excellent article tited, "Wage Gains Won't Last, Unless Fight for 15 Builds Worker Power."

2) Eve Spangler, associate professor of Sociology at Boston College, talks about her new book, "Understanding Israel/Palestine?," which offers a radical perspective on the decades-long Israel/Palestine conflict. She also discusses the link between early Israeli settler communities, the Holocaust and the human rights framework where a negotiated solution may be found.

3) Adriana Beltran, Senior Associate for Citizen Security with the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA,) assesses the current situation in Guatemala where the state may prosecute the nation's recently resigned and now jailed President Otto Pérez Molina, and his connection as a General in the Guatemalan military to mass murder committed during the nation's civil war.

4) Marilyn Elie, co-founder of the Westchester Citizens Awareness Network and an original member of the Indian Point Safe Energy Coalition discusses the continuing campaign to close down Indian Point nuclear power plant located in Buchanan, New York -- and provides an update on the status of a New York City Council resolution urging the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to deny Indian Point a renewal of its operating license.
