Episode: "Digging in the Dirt" with Zack Pickens
The latest installment of "Digging in the DIrt" featured Zack Pickens. Zach is an urban gardener, seed saver, Master Composter, and until recently full-time urban farmer at the Riverpark Farm at Alexandria Center in NYC. Zach ran this city farm for the Riverpark restaurant owned by the well known Chef Tom Colichio (Top Chef, Gramercy Tavern etc.) Zach has developed school garden programs and managed youth-run farmers’ markets throughout Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx before joining Riverpark Farm as Farm Manager. Zach is a certified Master Composter and started Rooftop Ready Seeds Company, focusing on the development of a stock of vegetable seeds that are tailored to the unique climate of the city of New York. His latest endeavor is a new farm start-up in the Hudson valley, called "Farm Tarnaut". This day we talked about seeds, urban farming and growing quality healthy LOCAL food with Zach Pickens on "Digging in the Dirt",
