John T. calls himself a Cultural Spelunker going after tales of the south. He is the Director of the Southern Foodways Alliance and has written an extremely interesting, complex book about the South...using Southern food as a jumping off point, the history of which is deeply intertwined with it's people and their struggles with the legacy of Slavery and race relations.
