1) Andres Arauz, Senior Research Fellow with the Center for Ecomic and Policy Research, is a former Minister of Knowledge of Ecuador and a former Central Bank General Director and is currently based in Mexico City, working on his PhD in Financial Economics. He'll address the apparent coup in Bolivia triggering the abrupt resignation of President Evo Morales.
2) Matthew Hoh, Senior Fellow with the Center For International Policy who in 2009 resigned his position with the State Department in Afghanistan in protest of the escalation of the Afghan War by the Obama administration. Here he discusses the high rate of suicide among veterans, the research indicating the cause of depression and guilt that leads many to take their own lives -- and what the Veterans Administration, Congress and the nation should be doing to address this ongoing crisis.
3) Rebecca Burns, Contributing Editor at In These Times magazine, discusses her coverage of the successful 11-day Chicago Teachers strike that took a stand on important social justice issues, as well as the state of the U.S. labor movement as we approach the 2020 presidential election.
4) Frederick Clarkson, a senior research analyst with Political Research Associates and author who first exposed,“Project Blitz,” a Dominionist Christian nationalist network that promotes the adoption of far right Christian-Evangelical inspired laws in state legislatures across the U.S. in April 2018. Here Clarkson talks about a recording of a recent Project Blitz conference call that reveals the network's current stealth tactics to legislate a range of measures including religious exemptions from civil rights laws protecting LGBTQ people in adoption and foster care, and religious exemptions regarding women’s reproductive health.
