1) Mark Weisbrot, Co-Director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, D.C. and author of the book, "Failed: What the "Experts" Got Wrong About the Global Economy," discuss his group's recent report, "Economic Sanctions as Collective Punishment: The Case of Venezuela," on the deadly impact of U.S. sanctions on the people of Venezuela -- the current economic/ political crisis, as well as the threat of U.S. military intervention.
2) Evan Feeney, Color of Change Campaign Director, talks about his groups effort to shine a light on the donations corporate charities/donor advised funds make to vigilante and other hate groups targeting asylum-seekers and immigrants.
3) Wendell Potter is a former health insurance industry executive turned whistleblower and author, who is founder of the investigative news platform, Tarbell.org. He discusses his recent article, Propaganda Machine Stalls at Medicare For All Hearing, and the major obstacles ahead for the movement pushing for universal, single payer health care in the U.S
4) Paul Kawika Martin, senior director for policy and political affairs at Peace Action discusses the May 2nd vote in the U.S. Senate that failed to override President Trump's veto of a War Powers Act resolution that would would have directed the president to remove U.S. armed forces from participation in the Saudi-led war in Yemen within 30 days. Paul will assess the continuing campaign to end U.S. involvement in the Yemen war.
5) Andy Piascik, a long-time activist, journalist and award-winning author whose most recent book is the novel "In Motion," talks about his recent article titled, "Breslin, Hamill and the Limits of the Mainstream," which examines these two celebrated New York City journalists, and the media system that constrained how they reported on the world they lived in and wrote about.
