Episode: 08.21.23: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses campaign to exclude Trump from 2024 ballot; Georgia RICO indictment Tells the story of election subversion; Code Pink responds to NY Times McCarthyite hit piece; House GOP's "ACE" voter suppression bill

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 – 9:30 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Executive Vice President and Chief Counsel Donald Sherman discusses CREW's report, "The case for Donald Trump’s disqualification under the 14th Amendment," with an update on the campaign to keep Donald Trump off the ballot across the country in the 2024 presidential election campaign.

2) Jonah Minkoff-Zern, Co-Director of Public Citizen’s Democracy Campaign discusses the significance of the latest Georgia indictment of Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants for their attempt to subvert the 2020 presidential election, and the Republican Party's condemnation of the charges as "politically motivated," while remaining silent on threats Trump has made against judges, prosecutors and witnesses.

3) Marcy Winograd, Coordinator of Codepink Congress project and a co-producer of Codepink Radio, responds to the recent New York Times hit piece, "A Global Web of Chinese Propaganda Leads to a U.S. Tech Mogul," characterizing the article as a McCarthyite attack, and talks about the group's "McCarthyism Is Back: Together We Can Stop It" campaign to push back against the rise of a new Red Scare that's targeting peace activists, critics of US foreign policy, and Chinese Americans.

4) Rick Weiland, Co-founder of TakeItBack.org and 2014 Democratic South Dakota U.S. Senate candidate, discusses his group's opposition to the House GOP's proposed American Confidence in Elections Act (ACE) that establishes strict voter ID requirements, reduces early voting periods, limits mail-in voting, and the purging of voter rolls, as well as TakeItBack.org's other initiatives and projects.
