Episode: Connections in the 70's

May 22, 2020 episode of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks. It's spontaneous! It's non linear! A special two hour show covering some music from the 1970's in a personal way, with stories and humor.

Includes David Bowie, an excerpt of an interview with Tony Visconti on Bowie and Mark Bolan, T. Rex, Talking Heads, Mott The Hoople, Brian Eno, Patti Smith, The Kinks, Laurie Anderson, Rockpile, Big Star, The Beach Boys, Iggy Pop, The Squeaky Chairs, The Twelve Elves, The Seals of Approval and whatever happened in the moment.

Joined by my friend Martha Willette Lewis, it's also a low key fundraiser for the station, with plenty of laughs along the way.

You can still donate online at wpkn.org or by calling 203-331-9756 during business hours.

Please note, it was only after the show that I realized I should have made the on air connection between Laurie Anderson, David Bowie, Brian Eno and Tony Visconti and their early use of the Eventide Harmonizer. The opening instrumentals by Bowie all feature Tony's use of the Harmonizer, as does Laurie's early work. If you don't know the story of Tony's use of the Harmonizer on Bowie's Low album, check out Tony's You Tube interview, followed by the cartoon version, also on You Tube.
