Episode: 02.12.24: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses Israel's ongoing carnage in Gaza war; SCOTUS hearing on Colorado's removal of Trump from state ballot; Questions on CT pension fund investment in Israel; New book on historic fight for reproductive rights

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 – 9:30 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Phyllis Bennis, a fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies, and international adviser for Jewish Voice for Peace and author whose books include “Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: A Primer.” She discusses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of the latest proposed Gaza ceasefire plan, his order to the IDF to enter the city of Rafah that is sheltering 1.2 million Palestinians with nowhere else to go -- and Netanyahu's repeated rejection of a future independent Palestinian state. She'll also comment on the Biden administration's ineffectual response, as the danger of a wider Middle East war increases.

2) Amira Mattar, Counsel with the group Free Speech For People, discusses her views on the US Supreme Court's 2/8/24 hearing of oral arguments in the case: Trump v. Anderson, where the justices will determine whether to uphold or overturn the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that Donald Trump is disqualified to run for public office in the state under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment in the U.S. Constitution.

3) Stanley Heller, Administrator of Promoting Enduring Peace which was founded in New Haven in 1952, a member of Jewish Voice for Peace, host of the TV news magazine “The Struggle,” and author of “Zionist Betrayal of Jews: From Herzl to Netanyahu.” He'll talk about his recent article, "Why does CT have $95 million invested in Israel?" -- as well as the organizing work PEP is doing to stop the slaughter in Gaza.

4) Dr. Felicia Kornbluh is a writer, activist, and Professor of History at the University of Vermont, with appointments in Gender, Sexuality, Women’s Studies, and Jewish Studies. She'll discuss her newest book titled, "A Woman's Life is a Human Life: My Mother, Our Neighbor, and the Journey from Reproductive Rights to Reproductive Justice."
