Episode: Connections: Exploring the music of Muscle Shoals
Dec 17, 2021 episode of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks, joined by my good friends Chris Frantz and Martha Willette Lewis. It’s spontaneous!! It’s non-linear!!! It’s a celebration of the music written, created and recorded in Muscle Shoals studios, featuring The Swampers, Bob Dylan, Etta James, Otis Redding, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Arthur Alexander, Wilson Pickett, Dan Penn, Percy Sledge, my old friend Buzzy Linhart (joined by Carole Bayer Sager, Peter Allen and my friends in Barnaby Bye), The Staple Singers, Aloe Blacc, my friend Emily Duff (produced by my long time friend Craig Bishop), The Fame Gang and whatever happened in the moment.
Plus a number of great stories and spontaneous humor.
It’s also a low key fundraiser for WPKN and our move into new studios in Downtown Bridgeport as we move into the future!!
Most of all, it’s an entertainment show!!!
You can still donate, either by calling 203-331-9756 during business hours or donating online at wpkn.org.
Great thanks to everyone who tuned in and/or donated!!
This is how we stay independent!!!
