1) Sam Pizzigati, a veteran labor journalist and Institute for Policy Studies associate fellow who co-edits the IPS newsletter Inequality.org, discusses the important issues examined in his recent article, "In France, a Bold New Take on ‘Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité’," where snap elections have unified left parties to form the 'New Popular Front' to beat back the threat of a legislative victory by the French far-right, anti-immigrant National Rally coalition led by Marine Le Pen.
2) Col. Lawrence Wilkerson served as Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff (2002-05), Associate Director of the State Department's Policy Planning staff, responsible for East Asia and the Pacific political-military and legislative affairs. He'll discuss his views re: the ongoing war in Ukraine, recent discussion of peace negotiations, and the Biden administration's policy authorizing Ukraine to use some U.S. weapons to attack targets inside of Russia.
3) Alice Hu, Senior Climate Organizer with New York Communities for Change, talks about the "Summer of Heat," a sustained campaign of nonviolent civil disobedience to end Wall Street's financing of fossil fuels, protest actions thus far, what's ahead during coming months -- and how listeners can get involved in, or support the actions.
4) Senior Airman Juan Bettancourt, an active duty U.S. Air Force pilot talks about why he's opposed to U.S. funding of Israel’s war in Gaza that has killed more than 37,000 Palestinians since October 2023. SrA Bettancourt is part of the “Appeal for Redress v2,” a campaign modeled after the 2006 Appeal for Redress conducted during the highly unpopular occupation of Iraq, to allow G.I.s to tell their representatives they are opposed to U.S. policy.
