Episode: Tony Visconti Interview/Conversation: Connections on WPKN

Dec 18, 2015 live interview of Tony Visconti by Eric Cocks on Connections on WPKN:

Tony is a wonderful producer, arranger, engineer, musician and vocalist… well known for producing David Bowie, T-Rex, Iggy Pop, The Moody Blues, Kristeen Young, Thin Lizzy, Alejandro Escovedo, Richard Barone, Esperanzo Spalding and many more.

In a very informal interview/conversation, we talk about his upcoming tour with Holy Holy (featuring drummer Woody Woodmansey). They'll be performing the entire David Bowie album, The Man Who Sold The World (which Tony produced and played bass on with Woody on drums), along with Bowie classics in the second half.

We also talk about his deep friendship with David Bowie and Marc Bolan of T-Rex, the importance of a producer in recording music and how that applies to Tony's viewpoint in a time of modern technology, and much more. Plenty of good laughs, great stories, insights and observations along the way.

The interview is followed by Bowie's Black Country Rock (with his great impersonation of his friend Marc Bolan) and a Kristeen Young duet with David Bowie. The instrumental version of The Man Who Sold The World at the start of the interview is by The Section Quartet.

The entire episode of Connections, including very rare Bob Dylan alternate takes, works in progress and live hotel room recording from The Cutting Edge, with new music from Roxanne Fontana, Anna Rose, Gary Calamar, Hillary Bratton and Et Tu Brucé, plus Bowie's new single Lazarus (co-produced by Tony) can be heard at:

Great thanks to Tony for wonderful story telling, great humor and amazing music from the 1960's to today!
