Episode: 10.07.19: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses the widening Trump impeachment inquiry; Bernie Sander's heart attack & double standards for protecting whistleblowers; Former Brazilian President Lula's corrupt prosecutors; Alabama lawsuit on Census

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Marge Baker, Executive Vice President for Policy and Program with People For the American Way, discusses the House impeachment inquiry, the widening circle of administration officials who have been implicated in UkraineGate scandal, and the debunked conspiracy theories repeated by the president and Republican politicians regarding Ukraine's alleged role intervening in the 2016 U.S. election.

2) Norman Solomon, co-founder and national coordinator of RootsAction.org, a Bernie Sanders delegate from California to the 2016 Democratic National Convention and is currently a coordinator of the relaunched independent Bernie Delegates Network. Solomon is the author of a dozen books including War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death. He'll discuss his recent article, "Pelosi Wants to Prosecute Snowden but Protect Trump Whistleblower" covering the double standard applied to government whistleblowers by both Democrats/ Republicans and corporate media.

3) Alexander Main, Director of International Policy at the Center for Economic and Policy Research examines the current move on the part of Brazilian government prosecutors to release Brazil's former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from prison to house arrest, in the face of growing evidence that his prosecution and trial on corruption charges was riddled with irregularities.

4) Thomas A. Saenz, President & General Counsel, Mexican American Legal Defense& Educational Fund (MALDEF) discusses his group's challenge to a state of Alabama law suit attempting to force the Census Bureau to exclude the estimated population of undocumented immigrants from the 2020 Census data used for reapportionment, thereby deliberately under counting millions of residents across the country.
