Episode: 08-31-20: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses QAnon conspiracy theories and GOP support; Kenosha and Portland BLM Protests and deadly street violence; Will Trump seek foreign conflict to boost re-election?; Build The Wall arrests & Kris Kobach

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Amanda Marcotte is a politics writer for Salon who covers American politics, feminism and culture. Her new book is titled, "Troll Nation: How The Right Became Trump-Worshipping Monsters Set On Rat-F*cking Liberals, America, and Truth Itself." Here she discusses her recent article, "Is QAnon the new Christian right?" and will also touch on both the Democratic and and Republican conventions, the Trump Post Office scandal and street battles in Portland and Kenosha that have killed three people in the past week.

2) Mark Bray, a historian of human rights, terrorism, and politics in Modern Europe, Lecturer at Rutgers University and author of "Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook," talks about his recent article, "RNC Gave Prime Time to Vigilantes,The Next Day a Gunman Shot BLM Protesters," with a focus on the dangerous link between the Republican Party and vigilante, militia violence targeting progressive activists.

3) John Feffer, director of Foreign Policy in Focus at the Institute for Policy Studies, and author, most recently, of "Aftershock: A Journey into Eastern Europe’s Broken Dreams," talks about his recent article, "What Will Trump Do to the World to Win Re-Election? Trump shrugged at 150,000 U.S. COVID-19 deaths. Who’s to say he’s above starting a fight with China or Iran?"

4) Greg Palast, known for his investigative reports for BBC, The Guardian and Rolling Stone, is the author of bestsellers including The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, and his latest, "How Trump Stole 2020: The Hunt for America's Vanished Voters." He'll discuss his current investigation into the recent arrest of Steve Bannon and Brian Kolfage on fraud charges -- and questions surrounding the decision not to indict Kris Kobach, who served as general counsel for the Build The Wall foundation -- and why Kobach is not being held accountable for his illegal use of the foundation's donor list to solicit money for his U.S. Senate campaign.
