Episode: 12.20.21: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses corporate media's distorted inflation coverage; Status of talks on restoring Iran nuclear deal; Doubling efforts to pass voting rights bills; WPKN project to support Black & Latino communities

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Dean Baker, Senior Economist at the Center for Economic and Policy Research discusses his recent article, "The Media’s War Against Biden Over Inflation," examining how media's dishonest hyping of the inflation issue has had a direct impact on Biden's poll numbers -- and could play an important role in the outcome of the 2022 Congressional midterm election.

2) Jamal Abdi, President of the National Iranian American Council discusses his group's views on the latest round of Iran nuclear talks in Vienna -- and statements from President Biden that his administration must prepare "other options" if diplomacy fails.

3) Christina Harvey, Executive Director of the group Stand Up America, talks about the campaign to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act -- as the Republican Party works to suppress voting rights and dismantle institutions safeguarding elections and protecting democracy.

4) Joseph Celli, host of the WPKN program “Soundprint: Asia” and a longtime musician and Connecticut arts administrator, talks about WPKN being awarded a $75,000 grant over three years from the federal American Rescue Plan. The station plans to use the grant—the largest in the station’s history—for film screenings, lectures, concerts and other visual and performing arts events (as well as 100 hours of on-air programming) to support Greater Bridgeport’s African-American and Hispanic communities.
