Episode: Connections: Beatles at The Hollywood Bowl, Dylan, The Kinks plus new and vintage music

Aug 19, 2016 episode of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks. New and vintage music. The Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl, Bob Dylan, The Kinks, Todd Rundgren and much more.

In September, The Beatles at the Bowl will be released on cd for the first time. Here are a few songs from the August 1965 performance, which shows a different side from their albums. Terrific energy and musicianship, especially considering the sound systems and technical limitations of the time.

Also several songs from Bob Dylan at various points in the show, including outtakes from Bringing It All Back Home, and other rarities. There's a special section with songs by Mose Allison. Plus music from Bo Diddley, The Rolling Stones, Alex Chilton, The Who, The Section Quartet, Elliott Randall, Lisa Germano, Dean Martin, Ennio Morricone, Syd Straw, Phillip Namanworh, Matt Keating, Nick Gilder, a John Lennon demo and more.

New or recent music by Ben Arthur, Phantogram, Anna Rose, Massive Attack (feat. Hope Sandoval), Father John Misty, Beck (remixed by The Mexican Institute of Sound), Warpaint, Dawes, Steve Addabbo, Julia Haltigan, Tennis, Mike Raphone, a subliminal piece by The Squeaky Chairs and whatever happened in the moment.

Thanks for tuning in!
