Episode: Cindy Lee Berryhill Interview and Live Performance
Here's a direct link to a WPKN interview and live performance by Cindy Lee Berryhill on the August 17, 2018 episode of Connections on WPKN with Eric Cocks. Also joined by Renata Bratt on cello and Paula Luber on percussion.
A wide ranging artist, Cindy Lee released her first new album in ten years in 2017 to superb reviews. The Adventurist, on Omnivore Records, lives up to its title song, exploring sounds, feelings and musical and lyric ideas from a number of different angles… revealing more and more layers with repeated listens. As one of the founders of the antifolk movement, Cindy Lee has always been an innovator. One of her acclaimed earlier albums, Garage Orchestra, will be re-released by Omnivore in the spring of 2019.
It was a real pleasure to have Cindy Lee, Renata and Paula perform these songs in such an intimate setting, while also having great fun in conversation. Special thanks to archivist and engineer, Alan Bershaw.
Also thanks to Richard Barone, Steve Addabbo, Cindy Lee, Syd Straw, John Sebastian, Maria Muldaur, Jesse Colin Young, David Amram, Melanie, The Kennedys and everyone who was a part of Music + Revolution: Songs of Greenwich Village in the 1960's.
