Episode: 09.28.20: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses the police killing of Breonna Taylor; Leak of Trump's income taxes; The value of international observers in US 2020 Election; "The Connecticut Man Who Led a Plot to Overthrow Franklin Roosevelt"

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Arisha Hatch, Vice President of Color Of Change talks about her group's response to Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s decision not to bring murder charges in the death of Breonna Taylor, and the larger issues of systemic racism in law enforcement and the judicial branch.

2) Karen Hobert Flynn, president of Common Cause assesses the gathering threats to the November election posed by Donald Trump and the Republican Party, including the President's recent statement that he won’t commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses. She'll also talk about deeply disturbing reporting from Barton Gellman in the Atlantic magazine that found GOP strategists are discussing a plan to ignore the popular vote in states with high mail-in ballot numbers and have Republican-majority state legislatures appoint pro-Trump supporters to the Electoral College, in order to hand victory to Trump.

3) Timothy S. Rich, Associate Professor of Political Science at Western Kentucky University talks about his recent article, "As Concerns Mount Over Integrity of US Elections, So Does Support for International Poll Monitors," with a focus on the positive role international observers have played in other nation's elections, the threat posed to public perception of election integrity by President Trump, and what can be done to mitigate chaos on election day, and the days that follow.

4) Andy Piascik, a long-time activist and award-winning author whose most recent book is the novel "In Motion," talks about his recent article written on the Connecticut Humanities history page titled, "The Connecticut Man Who Led a Plot to Overthrow Franklin Roosevelt," linking that attempted coup d'état the growing fascist threat we're living through today.
