Episode: 09.04.17: Counterpoint host Scott Harris discusses the effort to save the DACA program; How deregulation exacerbated the destruction of flood ravaged Southeast Texas; The true face of Antifa & Fight For 15 movement Labor Day protests

Counterpoint, hosted by Scott Harris, is heard every Monday night on WPKN 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT between 8:00 - 10:00 pm ET. Webstreaming and audio archive at http://wpkn.org

1) Carolina Borotolleto, Administrative Consultant with the national DACA advocacy movement, United We Dream, discusses speculation that the Trump administration may soon announce a decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, and her group's response. She'll also talk about how people across the U.S. can help defend the DACA program at this critical moment.

2) Robert Buzzanco, Professor of History at the University of Houston examines the local, state and federal emergency response to the floods that inundated Houston and southeast Texas after Hurricane Harvey struck last week -- and how the absence of infrastructure, zoning laws and unchecked development contributed to the scale of the destruction.

3) Kit O'Connell, an active member of Antifa and an Austin, Texas-based journalist talks about Antifa's philosophy and views on the danger posed by the Trump presidency and the rise of white supremacist, Neo-Nazi, KKK and "Alt-Right" groups nationwide. He'll also examine the media coverage Antifa has received, much of it demonizing the movement's activists as committing indiscriminate violence, and equivalent to extreme right wing groups. His recent article is titled, "What Are 'The Antifa' Doing After Harvey?"

4) Angel Candelario, a Burger King employee and another representative of the Fight For 15 minimum wage movement discuss the ongoing struggle to increase the minimum wage to a genuine "living wage" nationwide, and the Labor Day kick-off of their campaign to defeat anti-worker politicians across the U.S. in 2018.
