1) Remington A. Gregg, Counsel for Civil Justice and Consumer Rights with Public Citizen, assesses Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's controversial proposal to block coronavirus-related lawsuits against corporations for five years, and concern that such immunity will create a disincentive to protect worker safety and ensure all workplaces are safe.
2) Bill Fletcher Jr., a former senior staff person with the AFL-CIO, past president of TransAfrica Forum, a fellow with the Institute for Policy Studies and author, discusses his analysis of more than 4 weeks of mass protests in response to the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and the important issues raised in his recent Nation magazine article, "5 Ways to Rebuild Labor and Transform America," related to the current opportunities for labor to help build a progressive mass movement.
3) Dr. Keith E. Benson, President of the Camden, New Jersey Education Association talks about his recent article relating his views on the dismantling and re-building of Camden's Police Dept., now being upheld as a model for cities like Minneapolis -- the 3-week wave of nationwide protests against police violence and the role of education in addressing America's institutional racism.
4) Samuel Garrett-Pate, Communications Director with Equality California examines the Supreme Court's landmark ruling protecting LGBTQ+ employees from discrimination, concern about the loophole in the decision which doesn't apply to small businesses that employ as many as one in six Americans, and the ongoing campaign to pass the Equality Act in the U.S. Senate, which would amend the Civil Rights Act.
